Following Lily's North Star
I am happy that you have found Lily's Angels.
My name is Kelly Haffield, and I am the founder/creator of Lily's Angels, and I would like to share our story. But, before I do that, I want to tell you a little bit about myself.
Lily's Angels is a reflection of my passion for all things animals. Animals have always been a part of my life. I have been drawn to them for as long as I can remember. Pictures were not as readily taken when I was growing up as they are now, but what pictures were taken of me when I was young, there is usually a cat or dog, or both in the picture with me.
I know my family and friends could all attest to my preoccupation with everything from frogs to horses when I was growing up.
Fast forward to now and not much has changed in that regard.
My husband and I live on a small hobby farm that has a pond with frogs, a pasture with a horse and mini-donkey and a barn with everything in between.
A few years ago, after losing my horse, Rio, the idea occurred to me to re-purpose Rio's area of the barn and convert it into a small dog boarding kennel, so that's what we did, and in the summer of 2022 Hafftime Farm Dog Boarding Kennel became a reality.
I soon began posting on the Kennel Facebook page, pictures and stories of the dogs that came here to board. It not only provided me with an opportunity to connect with the owners of the dogs, but to share my love of dogs with others. The dogs that board here really do become a part of my family while they are here, but sadly, there have been a few losses in the "family".
Like a lot of you, I have experienced the pain of losing a pet, it's a pain that runs deep. When I get call or text from a customer telling me their dog has died, I share in their grief.
I started asking customers if I could post a tribute or a memorial for their dog on the Kennel Facebook page. The posts would be my way of honoring the memory of their dog. The memorials seemed to resonate with people, their comments and reactions reflected compassion and empathy, which led me to the idea of a web-page dedicated to pet memorials and tributes for pet owners from all over the country.
There was one dog in particular, Lily, whose loss hit a little closer to home as I had been caring for her right up to the end. In Lily's Story below, I describe the snow angel she had made just one day before she died. Following Lily's death, the seed was planted, and Lily's Angels was born. Lily's Angels is a place to celebrate the unique personalities and lives of your pets. A place for pet owners to share their grief while also celebrating the joy their pets brought into their lives.
I want to thank you for visiting my website. Feel free to explore and reach out if you have any questions or would like to connect. My hope is, if you experienced a loss of a pet, whether it was a day ago, a week ago, or 10 years ago. You will come back here and share your story with all of us.
Thank you,
